July 2008 Rock and Roll Photo of the Month - Brian Ray

When making the jump from film to digital, Richard E. Aaron put his own spin on a tried and true rock n' roll photo op in Los Angeles - The Hollywood Sign.

Article rating: 8.67

People have been asking me if I shoot digital now. The answer is yes, all the time.  Shooting film is over for me since I have been taken over by digital. Here is my first digital camera photo shoot.  I called my friend Brian and asked him if he would like to be photographed since I knew he had his own band.  Listening to his music, which I really liked, got me into the idea of doing a photo shoot of him. I wanted to do something different for me but I find not so different for every photographer who lives and works in Los Angeles -- the Hollywood sign in the hills of Los Angeles. For those of you who do not recognize Brian Ray (who to me is one of the best guitar players of our time), he not only has his own group but is also the guitar player for Paul McCartney. This was shot with a Nikon D3 with a 24-70 2.8 lens at 200ASA.
